Small-farm cut flowers

River's Garden Company is a small cut-flower farm in Howden, Manitoba. The flowers offered here are grown on-site through the Manitoba growing season. This disclaimer describes the realities of ordering seasonal, hand-cut flowers so that we and our customers stay aligned.

Seasonality

Cut-flower availability is entirely dependent on the Manitoba growing season and on weather in any given year. Some varieties bloom for only a few weeks. Late frosts, early frosts, unusually hot or cold weeks, heavy rain, drought, and pest pressure all affect what is available and when. The varieties shown on this website are representative of what we typically grow but do not guarantee availability on any specific date.

Substitutions

Where a variety you have specifically requested is not available or is under-supplied on your date, we may substitute a similar variety of equal or greater value from what is in bloom that week. Substitutions preserve the overall style and colour palette of your order to the extent reasonably possible. We will notify you of any substitution before your order is prepared, unless it is a small substitution (a single stem type in a larger mixed bouquet) that stays within the requested colour palette.

Colour representation

Photography on this website shows past crops. Real-world flower colour is affected by growing conditions, time-of-season, plant maturity, and lighting when the photo was taken. Screens also render colour differently. Actual colour of the flowers you receive may vary within a natural range from what you see on this site.

Photography and staging

Photography shows sample arrangements and typical looks. Your arrangement will use similar principles but is arranged fresh from what is in bloom and will be a one-of-a-kind result. Product-shot lighting and staging can also make bouquets look larger, brighter, or lusher than a real-life arrangement of the same stem count.

Weather and U-Pick sessions

U-Pick sessions are held outdoors on a working farm. Sessions may be cancelled, shortened, or rescheduled due to weather (severe heat, storms, high winds, muddy field conditions) or field-safety concerns. We will notify booked participants as early as possible and either reschedule or refund the booking.

Perishability

Cut flowers are perishable. Once your order has been picked up or delivered and is in your care, its longevity depends on how it is stored, hydrated, and displayed. Care instructions are provided with every order. We cannot accept returns or offer refunds for flowers that have wilted or discoloured due to conditions after they left our care.

Allergens and pollen

Cut flowers naturally produce pollen. Some varieties (lilies, sunflowers, others) are particularly high-pollen. If you or a recipient has severe pollen allergies or asthma, tell us at the time of ordering so we can either recommend lower-pollen substitutions or work with you on an alternative. We do not warrant that any bouquet is allergen-free.

Third-party links and content

Links to booking systems, social media, and mapping services are provided for convenience. Those third parties operate independently. We do not endorse or take responsibility for their content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability.

Reliance on website content

Any decision you make in reliance on information from this website (varieties, availability windows, U-Pick session times, location) is your own. Please confirm final details at the time of booking or ordering.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, River's Garden Company shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your access to or use of this website, from the substitution of any variety, or from the perishable nature of the product once it has left our care.
