Our commitment

River's Garden Company is committed to making this website and the on-farm U-Pick experience accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

Website: conformance target

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the international standard published by the W3C and referenced by the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA).

Website: known intentional exceptions

A small number of brand elements on this site (specifically, the cream-on-coral wordmark, hero, and footer) sit intentionally below the WCAG 2.1 AA colour-contrast threshold. This is a deliberate brand-identity choice for the River's Garden Co. wordmark and its immediate visual context, not an oversight. All body copy, navigation, buttons, forms, and functional content on the site meet or exceed the AA contrast target. If any brand-styled element causes a specific accessibility problem for you, please tell us and we will find a way to give you the information in an accessible form.

Website: features we provide

The site is navigable by keyboard, honours the prefers-reduced-motion setting, and uses semantic HTML. Photographs of flowers have descriptive alternative text. Decorative botanical illustrations are marked so screen readers skip them. Forms have visible labels and clear error messaging.

Farm: physical accessibility for U-Pick

The farm is a working cut-flower farm in Howden, Manitoba. The growing area is a natural outdoor space, not a paved surface. Guests planning a U-Pick session can plan around these conditions:

  • Terrain is soil and mown pathways. Wet weather can make the paths muddy. Wheeled mobility devices designed for outdoor terrain (all-terrain wheelchairs, off-road strollers) will fare much better than indoor devices.
  • Cutting stations are at standing height by default. If you need a seated station, tell us in your booking notes and we will arrange one for your session.
  • Restrooms on-farm are limited. Contact us before your session if this matters for your visit.
  • Companion support for a guest who needs it is always welcome; no additional charge for a support person.

If you or a guest have specific accessibility needs for a U-Pick session, please tell us as early in the booking process as possible so we can plan.

Alternate formats

If you need any content from this website in a different format (large print, plain-language description of the U-Pick experience, or read-aloud recording), contact us and we will provide it at no charge.

Feedback

If you encounter a barrier using this website or visiting the farm, please tell us. Describe the page or the farm feature, and (for a website issue) the browser and assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five business days.
